Apple Announces iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus – See New Features & Photos

Apple has announced the new iPhone. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7Plus were announced in an Apple event on Wednesday.

The biggest news as far as Iphone goes is fact that the 3.5mm audio jack is gone and now you can use headset via wireless (via Bluetooth) or via a jack dongle

• Stereo speakers
• New camera has optical image stabilisation – 6 element lens with f/1.8 aperture. 60% faster than previous iPhones. The iPhone 7 has a single lens camera; the 7 Plus has a dual lens camera (wide angle and telephoto).
• iPhone 7 Plus: New ‘portrait’ effect on the camera to add depth of field to photos
• Water and dust resistant
• Longer battery life: Apple says the 7’s battery will last two hours longer than the 6, and the 7 Plus battery lasts one hour more than the 6 Plus.
• Comes in jet black, black, gold, silver, rose gold
• Headphones will connect via the lightning port. A free set comes with with the phone, plus an adaptor for traditional 3.5mm jack headphones
• And AirPods – wireless headphones (with a microphone) that have infrared sensors that detect when they’re in your ear and only play then. W1 chip connects the AirPods to your other Apple devices. The batteries last for 5 hours and the Airpods come with a charging case that holds 24 hours of charge.

Apple In Acquisition Talks With Tidal

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is in talks to buy hi definition music streaming service, Tidal which is owned by Hip Hop mogul, Jay-Z.

Two years ago, Apple made a similar acquisition when it bought out Dr. Dre-backed Beats Electronics for $3 billion. Beats Electronics had a streaming service, Beats Music at then.

With this recent talks, Apple joins the queue of tech companies that have been courting Tidal. Samsung has been in at least one round of talks with the company. Google and Spotify have also reportedly approach regarding partnerships.

The acquisition might not hurt Tidal as despite the support it enjoys from Jay-Z and his famous colleagues, their subscription is only at 4 million users. Apple Music meanwhile gained 11 million subscribers in less than a  year of its operation.

Both companies are yet to comment on the recent development.

- Another new feature bridging the gap between tvOS and iOS is the automatic download of apps across your devices. Download, for example, the MLB app on your iPhone and it automatically gets installed on your Apple TV as well.

- Extending its Continuity effort to make it easier to work across Apple devices, the company also introduced a new Universal Clipboard, which was greeted with exuberant whoops and cheers. Basically, snippets of text, hyperlinks, and the like that you copy on one iOS or macOS device will be available on all the others.

The MacBook OLED Touch Bar Rumor has been Turned into a Cool 3D Concept

Martin Hajek makes a habit of creating super realistic 3D renders of rumored gadgets or cool concepts, and his latest is quite a beauty. Recreating the OLED touch bar that has been reported as part of an upcoming MacBook Pro overhaul, Hajek imagines a laptop that inches an extra bit closer to Apple's mobile iOS devices.

The touch bar in Hajek’s mockup can take over the computer's status bar duties, or serve as a download progress indicator, a media control, or even a cool Siri visualizer. And if the old top row of shortcuts and F keys is more to your liking, it can obviously still do that too. None of this is yet real, but looking at the versatility and simplicity of the idea, there’s little reason for why Apple (or any of its PC-making rivals) shouldn’t be doing it.

Modern laptop keyboards are already practically flat with negligible key travel. A touch bar that might have been awkward in the past would now sit pretty much in line with the regular keyboard’s keys. Since it would only handle ancillary duties, the OLED touch bar can probably be considered an unobtrusive (but very cool) extra.
